Not to mention quicken spell and its metamagic rod give them better action economy. Control spells just get better say they gain higher level spells that come at no cost to them. About all damage spells scale per caster level. Casters spells scale independent of gear and and action economy. You can keep saying you have an understanding of the game all you want but it won't make it any less untrue. Melees have their coin spread to thin as it is.
Its about time there was a semi-decent melee item with a good price. Even with a bag full of them the best you can do is one an encounter. I have also played with this item in use.
Surprise melee was still a great deal behind full casters. I have been in a great deal of games in 3.5 with belt of battle that has been whined about in this thread too.
